In response to a few requests, I'm including a section about me and why I created the site.

Credentials

Education: BA- Chinese, Brigham Young University Dec 03. Minor in TESOL, and completed coursework in secondary education. (I did not receive teaching license at graduation due to a technicality.)

Teaching Experience: I have nearly 2 years of experience teaching English to Chinese people in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. This includes teaching adults, high school age, elementary school age, and kindergarten age children. Typically, these have been medium size classes, but I have also taught small groups and private individual lessons.

I also taught Chinese in a missionary language institute for nearly a year. I taught both Cantonese and Mandarin and received very useful training and feedback during this time. I was teaching adult students over 50 years of age a small group, intensive program. I also developed teaching materials for these languages during that time.

Web Design Experience: In addition to work on this site, I had worked professionally as a web designer for around 1 and a half years. First was for the Brigham Young University College of Nursing, and second for the Brigham Young University Department of Asian and Near Eastern Languages.

Hobbies and Interests

I'm currently working in Taiwan for HESS Education teaching kindergarten and school age children. In addition to my interest in Chinese and web design, I also enjoy reading and writing. I've had short stories published locally and poetry published nationally. I also enjoy role-playing games and have played online MMORPG's when I had more time. I would like to work on the creative and conceptual side of creating an online fantasy environment for role-playing.

I enjoy sports activities such as basketball, volleyball, and recently tennis. I read stories of the Sci-fi fantasy genre and enjoy watching movies. I do enjoy making friends online and having language exchanges as well.

In terms of scholarship and research, my interests are primarily in Chinese and education. I have a particular interest in instructional design, curriculum development, and interactive programs that teach languages.

Recent events

I recently returned from a trip to Hong Kong and Fo Shan in China. Pictures of some of the places I saw will be included in a later update.
